EDITORIAL STATEMENT
«Transit: Multidisciplinary Studies in Translation» is an on-line series of texts which aims to promote and disseminate theoretical, descriptive and applied studies in all areas of translation and interpreting. The discipline of translation studies today encompasses a plurality of voices, approaches and perspectives, and the very concept of translation has expanded to include all semiotic forms of cross-cultural communication (from the written to the oral, from the visual to the multimedial). Translation is recognised as not only reflecting but also directing transcultural contacts and exchanges and it is the most widespread means by which ideas, styles and genres transit from one language and culture to another. The awareness among translation scholars of the centrality of translation in the world arena and of the increasingly heterogeneous and multifaceted nature of mediated discourse has led to traditional views being challenged and new paradigms proposed. These trends and developments can best be addressed within the umbrella term of «multidisciplinary translation studies» and we invite contributions from translation scholars and those working within such neighbouring disciplines as linguistics, semiotics, literary, cultural and media studies interested in fostering an inclusive and multidisciplinary configuration of translation. Contributions must have a clearly translational focus and aim to stimulate dialogue on the complex variety of forms and domains of translation as mediated discourse in relation to its theoretical, descriptive and applied branches.
Submissions
Contributions
should be submitted in both electronic and paper form and addressed
to both the Editors. Electronic submissions should take the form
of an attached file in Word (Windows) or Rich Text Format.

Contributions may be in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish and must be accompanied by a 500 word abstract in English. All contributions must state the name, affiliation and address of the author(s) and an electronic or postal address.
Editorial policy
All contributions will be reviewed. We guarantee a response within 3 months of submission and will provide either a direct accept/reject reply or a request for revision and resubmission.
The rights for the volumes published in the series «Transit: Multidisciplinary Studies in Translation» will remain with the authors themselves. Citation or reproduction of any part of the material published on line will have to indicate the author's name and acknowledge the source. A statutory number of paper copies of each text are envisaged and will be assigned an ISBN. Further copies may be printed on request upon payment of a fee.
