Gli impatti del turismo sull’ambiente e gli effetti del danno ambientale sull’organizzazione turistica

Giuseppe Avena

Abstract

In Italy the «network» term, applied to ecological problems and conservation, has been introduced since the early 80’s. Today, the National Ecological Network (REN), together with actions on the territorial system, was inserted into the political system at national level. It might be thought to support the voluntary actions of manufacturers and service providers involved in the eco-environment, given that the «European Ecolabel» is a tool for controlling its environmental impacts and provides an increase in competitiveness on the market. It represents the eco-label, which was established in 1992 by the European Community in order to help consumers into identify products that, throughout their life cycle, resulted in lower negative impacts on the environment than other products of the same category. However, the tourism sector is contributing cause of many environmental impacts such as, in the case of commuter travel, and noise emissions in the atmosphere, related to vehicular traffic, as well as peaks are observed in the consumption of water, electricity, heating fuel and in the production of waste and wastewater. To minimize such emissions, any accommodation that wants to deal with the requirements of environmental excellence established at European level, may voluntarily subscribe to the scheme proposed by the European Community through the use of «Ecolabel» applied to tourist accommodation service.
