Cadmo di Mileto, primo storico dell’Occidente. L’opera

Abstract

The essay examines the only extant fragment of Cadmus’ historical work, its title and the ancient scholars’ critical judgment on its style and content, in an effort to rebuilt the political, historical and cultural background with regard to the period in which it was written. The data emerging from this analysis strongly let us establish a chronology to the middle sixth century B.C. This result also agrees with the information provided by the ancient sources.
