Un percorso di ricerca nella Formazione Professionale bolognese. Alcuni risultati di apprendimento degli studenti nell’area dei Linguaggi

Ira Vannini

Abstract

A Research Path in Bologna’s Vocational Training Centres. Some Students’ Achievements in the Linguistic Area

This work reports on some specific results coming from a research-training process conducted together with trainers from ten vocational training centres of Bologna province from 2005 to 2008. The study is currently in the results dissemination phase (in the schools and vocational training context) and a review of the educational and evaluation instruments is geared to:
1. re-planning the curriculum of the compulsory secondary school vocational training courses for students aged 16 to 18 years in the Emilia-Romagna region;
2. applying the new two-year curriculum in 11 classes of the vocational training centres concerned;
3. checking the results achieved, in terms of students’ learning;
4. spreading the curricular innovation and the educational and assessment methodologies created during the study in schools and vocational training centres of the Emilia-Romagna region.
In order to briefly illustrate some results of this study concerning student learning, we shall present the methodology that led to competence assessment for 188 students belonging to the classes implementing the new curriculum. We shall also present some data from the evaluation tools delivered at the end of the first year concerning, in particular, reading comprehension and text production linguistic skills, which are considered fundamental among the life skills specified in the rules concerning the cultural coordinates for the new vocational training paths.
