Ὅρμος. Ricerche di storia antica ‒ nata nel 1999 e online come "Nuova serie" dal 2008 ‒ mantiene intatta, nella nuova veste elettronica, le finalità che ne hanno sempre orientato l’itinerario scientifico e alle quali rinvia il titolo. Il concetto di “porto” (hormos) evoca infatti non solo l’apertura a tematiche di ampio respiro su molteplici aspetti del mondo mediterraneo antico ‒ la cui esplorazione in senso interdisciplinare è stata da sempre affidata a studiosi di alto profilo scientifico ‒ ma anche l’accoglienza a contributi delle nuove generazioni di ricercatori nel campo della storia antica in tutte le sue articolazioni. 

A partire dal 2025 la Rivista, punto di incontro per studiosi e ricercatori, viene pubblicata tramite Open Journal Systems (OJS), un software che la arricchisce con gli strumenti più aggiornati per migliorarne l’accessibilità open access, l’indicizzazione e la visibilità internazionale.  

La Rivista è aperta alla pubblicazione di contributi in cinque lingue (italiano, inglese, francese, tedesco e spagnolo).

Founded in 1999 and online as a ‘New Series’ since 2008, Ὅρμος. Ricerche di storia antica preserves, in its new electronic format, the aims that have consistently guided its scholarly trajectory and to which its title itself refers. The notion of the “harbour” (hormos) evokes not only an openness to broad-ranging themes concerning multiple aspects of the ancient Mediterranean world ‒  explored from an interdisciplinary perspective and entrusted, since the journal’s inception, to scholars of high scientific standing ‒ but also a welcoming space for contributions by emerging generations of researchers in the field of ancient history in all its articulations.

Starting from 2025, the Journal ‒ conceived as a meeting point for scholars and researchers ‒ is published through Open Journal Systems (OJS), a platform that enhances it with the most up-to-date tools to improve open-access availability, indexing, and international visibility. 

The Journal accepts submissions in five languages (Italian, English, French, German, and Spanish).
